This is a sort of mini project just to develop a simple quick character as often as possible, by dressing the same character in different costumes. This is really a challenge to simplify characters and see what is essential into making some look like a spaceman for instance. It's also just a bit of fun with illustrator.

The Infinite Monkey Project is a concept for what will either be an animation or a comic or both. This is a computer game pixel style inspired by Nintendo's Donkey Kong. The manager of the Infinite monkey Industries is a direct homage to DK himself being the original donkey Kong in a suit but named as Don. K. Kong cousin to the building site menace that is DK.
The story will center around one monkey out of an infinite number of monkeys and will tell the misadventures that happen at the industries building.
The infinite monkey project is a company set up to prove the saying "an infinite number of monkeys with and infinite number of typewriters will eventually write a sentence of Shakespeare.
The company aims to write that work of Shakespeare but never does... in fact it seems to write and even re-write everything else.
its a fun silly project and will hopefully prove fun to make so watch this space!!

In my third year of university me and a friend made a book about a little princess. The book never quite lived up to my hopes for it, so I'm now beginning a new venture to create the book i always wanted to, for now the book has no title and the story is only being loosely developed, but i have begun to illustrate it, and develop the style. This castle illustration is a sneak preview of sorts, probably a very advanced sneak preview as I don't see this being a project I want to rush.

This project started as a illustration and has now developed into a piece of product design. This is just a project for my own development a experiment in product design, branding and packaging. its working name at the moment is Lord Whimsy... yet to be confirmed. Basically its a design for a tea infuser that hooks to the side of your cup, and that looks like a little English gent (of sorts) I looking forward to making this project and a mock prototype is in development.

The cork people began as a second year university project. They are all individually hand painted. The idea was that champagne corks could be painted to look like charcaters. A simple idea and it grew. To date im sure there have been nearly 100 cork people made, from criminals to office workers, adam and eve to the devil. I've even made cork darleks and cork spiderman. I'm currently working on builiding up a stock of the cork people for sale in th future so watch this space. they have been branded and had there packaging designed so now its just the hard work of collecting and painting enough corks to make a cork collection for sale. I've also got to decide where i want to sell them... online or try and get them into shops but there's a little while before we get that far!

Maya Character Building

Hi,

Again an over due post. It's been busy lately but not with very much going on. When I have had time I have been trying to build a character head in Maya. So far this is the result... there is a long way to go but for a novice I think I'm beginning to get the hang of it. Hair is going to be and interesting next step but I may need to build another head before I make that leap!

Cheers Ryan

Hello
Recently I've been learning to use Maya, the programme is vast so its slow going at the moment and I'm only really developing polygon images, but given time I'm certain i can master it!! I'm building a scene that I'm calling the tea genie, basically a genie from a tea pot, the project is mostly just to build as many items as I can and get my practice in on the software.

Leicester University RAG Promotions

Hello

Through '09 I've been working on a series of posters, a one of magazine and some fliers for Leicester Universities RAG magazine. There mascot is a cow and so I decided to make the cow into a cool character.... the joke being that inside there twee cow costume was the cow character who is kind of cool and is always embarrassed to be dressed as a lame cow. All the design for these promotional materials is illustrated and then developed into colour on the computer. The theme of the posters is usually made to suit the event, meaning the cow takes on many guises, and is probably the most active student in the world!

I'm really pleased with the graphics I've been able to develop for the RAG society and its good to be doing something for what is essentially a charity.

I can say one thing though I'm definitely going a little mental from drawing a cow over and over.

Hello

The MGMT ie: Ryan, would like to apologise to anyone who has attempted to follow this blog.. or should I say this lack of a blog. I can almost certainly say I don't think I have any followers but for those of you who have joined us recently please take this post as the post to begin it all again. This blog was set up with all good intention of showing my work and keeping people up to date on my design etc, it was set up whilst I was unemployed between University and my current job and sadly once I started work this blog fell out of sight!!

But I'm beginning my big push into the world wide web! and from now on, hopefully, will have a plentiful supply of posts to keep the world aware of myself and my work! Within the next week I hope to have my online portfolio running which I suggest going to to see my most up to date projects! http://www.ryanearnshaw.design.officelive.com/

Since my last post way back in '08 a lot has happened. I've been working full time designing licenced apparel and that's currently my occupation still. I have re-branded myself following the identity crisis that was Ryan Earnshaw Illustrations when I left university. Hopefully you will like the new cleaner more graphic look I'm going for, all feedback is welcome!

Over the next few post I'm hoping I can bring you up to date on what I've been doing over the whole of '09 before I start to concentrate on keeping you up to date with things here in the now in the glorious 2010!

Hopefully its going to be a busy and exciting year for me and I'm hoping you will follow me through it as i work at becoming a top notch designer!

So as of now its proactive on the net and lets push to enter the modern world!!

Toodles for now until the next post!

Ryan
